Brian and Barnaby’s differences in signing their names are a fascinating little detail.

Barnaby often forms his capital B by beginning with what looks almost like an L-shaped stroke and then overlaying a figure resembling a “3,” giving the letter distinctive projecting legs.

Brian’s B is constructed differently. He appears to begin with a J-like stroke before forming the loops. The upper loop is noticeably larger, while the lower loop is tighter and finishes with a flourish that curls back to the left.

Small details like these make it much easier to distinguish father and son when examining historical documents.

Barnaby’s death street is very tight and narrow, I heard somewhere that street sizes generally stay the same. It’s just the buildings around that change.
