Hello! If you don't mind me asking, where did you get your toad? I've been thinking about a pet toad but a lot of people seem to just catch a theirs outside and keep it which is.... not something I can do where I live
Unfortunately both Po Tater and Doughbody are wild caught as well. As far as I know, nobody in the US really breeds American or gulf coast toads and in many states it is legal to collect them, though some places have a limit on the number you can have at a time. but I think some people on a Facebook group I follow, American Toad Enthusiasts, may be experimenting with breeding. If you are comfortable with a larger species, I think some people breed Sonoran desert toads and people definitely breed cane toads, but both of those species, in addition to being larger, are more toxic, so you have to be especially careful after handling them to make sure you wash your hands well. If there are any big reptile shows near you sometimes you’ll see people selling some of the more exotic species as well, but with common native species they also tend to be wild caught. Every once in a while you’ll see people selling albino woodhouse’s toads as well but it’s not often.
