Last night I was talking to a friend on the phone. She mentioned she had just finished watching the PBS show “Finding Your Roots.” It’s a show where genealogists trace the roots of famous people. She described how on the show there is a segment that reveals what other famous people are related to the famous person who just had their family tree done.

I’m not usually a big “Our phones are listening to us,” conspiracy theorist. I’ve read stories written by technology experts who explained what was really happening. These stories convinced me the phones are not listening to us.

However, fast forward five hours to 1 a.m. when I was scrolling through Instagram. One of the first posts, or ads, I saw was for the show Finding Your Roots and the focus of this post was the reveal of what famous person is related to the famous person who just had their family tree revealed.

So…maybe they are listening to us?

Which seems easiest?; fanart, such as Pokémon or original art, such as Children of Light?

I've been considering at times trying out original arts 😅 but fanart is just easier cause I've probably been doing it for so long.

Neither is significantly easier than the other tbh.

COTL is my easier comic to draw than FYR. FYR deals with a much wider variety of character designs, a wider color palette for character flats, cel shading which takes longer than COTL's soft shading, and generally longer chapters. FYR isn't more difficult because it's pokemon... it's more difficult cause of the logistics of its art.

COTL is really easy to draw! I'm very efficient at drawing forests at this point, and the characters all have a very similar design and palette that makes coloring super easy. Plus the soft shading on the spirits, I can do pretty fast at this point. And again, shorter chapters in this comic.

If you can do fanart, I think you could def do original art too. Wynaut give it a try!
