hey I’m DMing a campaign rn set in the Wild West and the big baddie is a gang of vampires. you’re a writer, so I was wondering if you had any headcannons/suggestions/ideas on vampire outlaws?
When I first read this I was like, ‘oh yeah, I do write things’ but anywho–
Wild west vampires, eh? Sounds dope af. Here’s what i’m thinking:
The vampires have control of the town’s water reservoir. During particularly good weathered days, people don’t rely on them as much since most folks have their own wells. But during moments of drought, desperate farmers have to go to the vampires in order to sustain their crops and livestock. They keep their rates pretty fair–Gallon of water for a pint of blood, am I right? Most heathy folks can physically replenish that after a day.
Of course, the vampires loan the water out first, (because hydration is key in efficient bloodsucking). But right now the town is going through a pretty serious drought, and so they are relying on the vampires for more water they usually do. And the vampires–being vampires with decent understanding of economics–raise their blood rates. No one even know where they’re gettin their source of water from! All they know is: they’re on the brink of dying from dehydration one way or another.
