a  cup  of  wine  warmed  her  hands  through  her  fingerless  gloves  as  she  sipped  on  the  liquid.     “   have  you  seen  anyone  try  the  fruitcake  yet   ?   ”    she  asks  the  other  standing  near,  the  corner  of  her  mouth  quirks  upwards  in  a  half  smile.     “   i’d  bet   it   tastes  better  than  anything  a  food  synthesizer  could  make,   ”     the  words  are  quieter  than  her  previous  sentence,  more  for  herself  than  the  man  she  was  standing  behind.  still,  she  smiles  to  herself  and  sips  on  her  wine  as  she  watches  the  people  on  the  ice  rink.

it  was  like  attending  prom  all  over  again .    for  most  people ,  at  least ,  he  assumed .    he  didn’t  attend  prom .    no  one  asked  him  plus  his  mom  didn’t  even  like  the  thought  of  him  going .    people  slip  stuff  in  the  punch   &   they  dance  on  one  another ,  she’d  say .    but  this  is  the  kind  of  big  fancy  thing  he  imagined  prom  like .     he  sighs ,  sipping  some  champagne .           ❝    i  feel  like  the  people  who  run  this  town  are  on  crack .      how  do  they  even  afford  to  do  stuff  like  this  for  everyone  here ?    ❞

“I know I wasn’t the only one who was promised something,” Alice remembered that moment as if it was yesterday. The pure joy she felt when she realized her wait was over; she’d finally be one with those she’d been dreaming of. “And some seem to have gotten it but...” She’s been here for months now and her family -whoever they were- were nowhere to be found. “Not me.”

Isobel has seen the 1920s theme and completely fallen in love with the idea. Her navy blue flapper style dress matched Leonard’s little suit perfectly. It had been Seb’s idea for the two of them to match, so that he could match with their daughter. It warmed her heart how quickly they had become the little family they were supposed to be. Leo’s arms were wrapped tightly around his mother’s neck as she carried him towards the refreshments table. He had tried to run away from her as his own little game, yet again, and it seemed being stopped by a stranger so his mother could grab him had shaken the four-year-old boy. Coming up to the table, she mumbled to herself as she examined the many treats. “I must learn some of these recipes.” smiling at the person next to her as Leo continued to sniffle into her shoulder. “How are you enjoying the party?”

“ when i moved from hell’s kitchen to washington, i told my friends there was absolutely no way the winters could be as bad as new york. it’s the west coast !  sure, they get snow, but it can’t be as bad as having fronts come right off the ocean,  ”   karen was clearly heated, unlike the room she was standing in. her breath danced and crystallized in front of her lips.   “ i’m glad to know that i was right. it’s not as bad. it’s worse. ”   needless to say, she was miserably cold. hands were shoved under her arms as a means of keeping her fingers somewhat warm and her nose was buried in her scarf.   //   @findinghcme​

“   have  you  seen  the  carousel  yet ?   ”     jyn  asks  the  other,  her  breath  crystallizing  on  the  air  in  front  of  her  as  she  speaks.  she  shifts  her  weight  and  holds  out  a  plate  to  the  other,     “   here.  they  gave  me  two,  but  really  i’m  only  going  to  be  able  to  eat  one,  if  i’m  lucky,   ”     she  wasn’t  used  to  eating  much,  at  least,  not  in  the  last  couple  of  years.  jyn  continues,     “   they’re  pretty  big  crepes.  happy  holidays  and  all  that.   ”

his  apartment  had  taken  it’s  fair  share  of  beatings  since  arriving .    all  he  had  wanted  to  do  was  give  it  a  break .    one  problem  with  a  few  animals  while  he  was  a  wolf   &   now  it  was  the  worst  case  of  wrong  place  wrong  time  that  he’d  ever  been  in .    he  tried  to  keep  his  head  down  the  next  few  days ,  despite  the  almost  literal  trail  of  blood  that  lead  back .    he  sighed  at  the  laundromat ,  watching  his  clothes  turn  over   &   over  as  he  prayed  the  blood  came  out  of  them  easy  enough .   he’d  been  alone  there  most  of  the  day  until  he  heard  the  door  chime .    glancing  over  his  shoulder ,  he  raises  a  brow  at  the  visitor  but  manages  to  act  fairly  casually  still .             ❝     i  think  the  employee  that  was  here  went  on  break    ...    but  she  should  be  back  soon  if  you  need  any  help .    ❞

“ there’s a lot less crime here for a place where people just . . . show up,  ”  chloe mused as she looked over the people milling about. something about this place just didn’t add up : the letters, the promises.  the fact that no one could leave, that no one could choose to come of their own accord. none of it made sense. it was undenyably frustrating to the former detective.  “  what do you make of this place ? ”  she asked aloud, expecting lucifer by her side. he always had a knack of just . . . appearing when needed –– and also when not needed, but that was a story for another day.      //     @findinghcme​  (   for spock  )
