Finding Summer Chapter Seven
We drove around for a while until Zayn finally stopped the car. I looked at him for the first time since I got in the car. "I'm sorry," I said quietly. "Why are you sorry? Don't be sorry," He stated. I didn't say anything. After a while he said, "You don't have to tell me what's wrong. I just want to know if you're alright." He wasn't pressuring me to tell him anything. He wasn't forcing the truth out of me like anyone else would do in this situation. He simply cared whether or not I was okay. This caused me to burst into tears. His eyes widened. He reached over and pulled me into a hug. The tears had finally subsided when my phone started ringing. "Do you want me to get it?" Zayn asked as the looked through my purse for the ringing phone. I nodded and stared out the window. "Hello?" He answered. "Zayn Malik...Yes, from the boy band." I glanced at the clock and half-listened to Zayn's side of the conversation. It was already midnight. "No, I'm not a faggot." He said nonchalantly. I looked up. "Yeah, she's with me." He mouthed "Hunter" to me and my eyes widened. It must have registered in his head that Hunter was the reason I was crying because he was suddenly very serious. "No, she can't speak with you right now. And no, I won't bring her to your house." I heard yelling coming through the phone. "No," Zayn said patiently. "No, you will not see her tonight. Goodnight, Hunter." He hung up, put my phone in his pocket, and started the car. "He's lovely," Zayn said, sarcastically. This caused me to smile. He grinned at me. "Are you going to be alright if I bring you home?" He asked. "Of course," I laughed. I gave him directions to my house and within minutes we arrived. When we pulled through the gates Zayn stopped abruptly. He put his arm across me so I wouldn't fly forward into the dashboard. I looked up and saw an angry Hunter storming towards the car. I buried my face in my hands. I reached for the handle to get out so I could get my boyfriend inside before he caused a scene, but Zayn stopped me. "Stay in the car." He said firmly as he unbuckled his seatbelt. I looked up at him, questioningly. He got out and slammed his door shut before walking up to Hunter. I couldn't make out what they were saying, but Hunter was yelling. Zayn seemed to be calm, but they were both making gestures toward me. Hunter must have said something to make Zayn mad because all of a sudden he was yelling as well. Suddenly, Hunter was at my side and ripped my door open. Hunter was yelling me to get out of the car as Zayn pulled him back and shoved him. Hunter fell on the ground, and before I could blink, Zayn was back in the driver's seat. He quickly reached across me and shut my door before reversing out of my driveway. Zayn was mad. Everyone was angry tonight. If I had stayed with Hunter, he wouldn't be mad. Then, Zayn wouldn't be in this situation, and he wouldn't be mad either. It was all my fault.
