Hello, I'm still new on this kdrama thing. So I would like to know if heirs will come back with a new season? I haven't watched all the episodes yet. thank you
Well…. just to preface, I don’t know anything really and never say never but….
A direct sequel is not going to happen imo. They usually don’t with kdramas. Often shows run for just the amount of episodes they were contracted for, although sometimes shows get 1-2 episode extensions (I Hear Your Voice, Master’s Son) … but most often it just is what it is, one ‘season’ and done.
Typically ‘sequels’ are more like spinoffs with different casts but similar scenarios, yet they don’t necessarily relate to the first iteration. It’s like the same concept, just redone. (I Love Romance, Dream High, ect). The notable exception that I can think of is IRIS, which was rather popular and it was brought back for a more-but-not-entirely direct sequel. IRIS 2 had some of the same supporting cast of the original and it was set in the same world but years later with different lead characters. But this type of semi-direct sequel is more rare than not.
I could see Heirs getting a spinoff where it is about rich kids with rich kid problems all while wearing the same Jeguk uniforms but most definitely imo it will not feature the same cast. … Even if they were to break the kdrama mold, Heirs was sort of an unrivaled all-star cast, so I think they’d be hard pre$$ed to be able to bring everyone back.
But that’s not to say that some members of the cast won’t be together in another drama anytime soon. This is actually very likely imo. Actors reappearing together happens all the time in kdramas. Speaking of IRIS 2, it was Jang Hyuk and Lee Da Hae’s 3rd time as the main pairing in a drama together. So yeah jmo we could see members of the cast in another drama someday, just not all of them in the same drama again and it won’t be Heirs 2.
I am impatiently waiting for the day Woo Bin and Ji Won are in a romance together NGL. And hey they teased the idea in that Mnet Morning Wide interview, so I’m just going to interpret that as foreshadowing that it will happen sooner than later. The painful life of an unfulfilled shipper. Sobs.
