Thank you for the prompt! I decided to go with Nova and Finn, as I need practice writing their dynamic!

Set during Nova’s first year at Hogwarts when she’s 13.

It had been raining all afternoon, and what little people remained in the courtyard were sheltering in the open corridors. Nova was tired of studying in the stuffy library, trying to write her Transfiguration essay. She’d been at Hogwarts for about a month now, though she was sure even the first years were adjusting better than her. From her little nook she watched the raindrops make little waves in the fountain, wondering if she should at least try to approach some of the people around her. Before she could decide either for, or against, she heard a voice behind her, near the doorway: “Hey!”

Nova turned her head to see one of the MacKade twins standing there, holding a scroll of parchment. He wasn’t wearing his Hogwarts uniform, so she had no idea which one of them he was. To be completely honest, she wasn’t sure she’d known even if he was in uniform.

“Hi...?” she replied, tentatively. She hadn’t made many friends from houses other than Slytherin. And even those were more like acquaintances.

“You left this behind at the library,” he said, offering the parchment scroll.

Nova stuck her hand in her school bag and felt her essay missing. “Oh… thank you.”

She took the scroll from the boy, and haphazardly stuffed it in her bag.

“No problem,” he said. “Glad I caught you.”

“Sorry, what’s your name, again?”

The other MacKade laughed, and said: “I’m Finn, don’t feel too bad, Nate and I get this a lot.”

“I’m Nova.”

“I know, we don’t get many new students around here.”

Nova had more than noticed that fact, but after a few weeks of giving everyone the cold shoulder, they’d started to learn their lesson. Except for this guy, apparently.

“Well thanks for the scroll, but I have to go-“

He interrupted her before she had even decided on the excuse she was going to give: “I was gonna go play some gobstones with a few mates. You wanna come?”

Nova must’ve been staring at him in confusion, because he added: “It’s a game, where you-“

“I know what gobstones is, I just don’t know why you’re asking me.”

“Cause you seem cool,” said Finn, sincerely. “And we’re one player short.”

Nova gave him a suspicious look. “Didn’t you know that I’m mean and grumpy and you shouldn’t approach me or I might hex you?”

“That’s the word on the streets, yeah,” answered Finn. “But I think you’re interesting and different and I like that.”

She was not expecting him to say that at all, and accidentally smiled.

“Is that a yes?” asked Finn, grinning.

Nova cursed herself. She wasn’t here to make friends, but Finn looked so happy about the prospect that she ended up nodding anyway.

“Alright,” she said. “But I’m gonna need to borrow someone’s set, I don’t have my own gobstones.”

“That can be arranged!” Finn exclaimed. “Come on, this way!”

Nova rolled her eyes and followed Finn back inside.

Your character is sitting outside a little restaurant by the sea. They are telling their most intimate friend about their beloved. They're drinking something delicious. What are they saying? What are they drinking?

ERNEST LIVINGSTON is rambling to his sister about how wonderful Auggie Basset is, even if he finds it a bit awkward to call a grown man Auggie. He’s drinking a nice cappuccino with a chocolate croissant. It’s a breezy sunny, on the English coast where Ernest and his sister are watching their older sister and nephew, Elijah, on the beach. It’s very peaceful, and honestly, it’s everything that Ernest needed at that moment.

FINN MACKADE has just returned from his trip around the world, photographing different creatures, and is telling his brothers about his trip and his darling Scotty. He’s drinking a cinnamon hot chocolate with whipped cream and chocolate shavings and marshmallows. He’s very content and it’s nice to see his brothers. He’s felt a little guilty about leaving for approximately nine months and placing Nate as the main brother in charge.
