NPC: Onyx

Onyx is Spawn and Finn’s biological mother. She’s crass, rough around the edges, always quick to throw a punch. If Finn met her, he wouldn’t really like her all that much as a person, especially with how Spawn had raised him. Spawn, on the other hand, would be more sympathetic towards her given her own experiences with hell. Kindness, gentle touches, softness...those are all completely foreign to Onyx. She never even bothered to name her pups. She would know they were her pups by scent, but nothing more.

Finn does not do well around magic. Even as a pup, he did not like the feel of it or being around it if he could help it. Part of it stems from a general aversion to anything that can manifest as an addiction. It’s the same reason he really does not drink. 

Another part of it is he did not like seeing the way Bethy was after playing familiar. Sure, she wasn’t hurt or anything, but she was dazed and out of it and it had made him deeply uncomfortable. 

Darker magic literally makes his skin crawl and he knows that sounds really weird given that he’s an actual hellhound, but it just does.

Finn has dabbled in a lot of different art mediums over the years. He has dozen of unfinished projects, paintings and pictures of his siblings, different types of film still undeveloped, memory cards full of photographs and half finished edits on various flash drives and larger external drives. Some of his work, the finished pieces, are displayed around the house. Mostly candid shots, unposed and untouched, a few with selective color filters applied, but most of it is unfinished. It’s not because he gets bored, he just loses focus, moves on to the next thing with every intent on going back to finish up older stuff. He just never quite does.

Finn was raised in hell for a part of his childhood. When he was old enough, he went to a rather unkind demon with a bit of a grudge. He didn’t know that his older sister had once belonged to them and that they had been forced to give her up and it made them take that anger out on Finn.

When Spawn found out about him, she came and got him and brought him back to the bar when he was about 7. He had told Spawn about a couple of younger pups that ended up in the same training group as him towards the end of his time there and begged her to go get them too.
