This was shot on one of the deepest days of the winter 2014/15. An amazing day shooting with good friends in Sonnenkopf, the snow pack had been super unstable so we spent most of the day playing around on different hits and drops rather than going onto the bigger faces. Dom comes from a park background and has transferred over without any problems into playing in the powder and throwing tricks off natural hits, this shot was taken hiking back to us after doing just that. This was shot on Canon 5d mkiii, Canon 70-200 2.8 L II usm. Set up was iso 160, f.8 and 1/1000sec.

I got to check out and shoot Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes on their first ever tour. Having seen Frank live in his other musical outfits i knew it was going to be a passionate show, full of raw energy. There was no barrier, no photo pit just get to the front and hold a position. I don't normally shoot with flash for my live music shots but the venue was so dark it was essential. I got a bunch of shots i was really happy with and this was one of them. This was shot on Canon 5D mkiii, Canon 35mm L series 1.4 prime and Canon 430EX III speedlight. I had the flash firing directly up to try and soften the direct shadows, spot metering and ai servo on camera.

I shot this portrait of my brother as a test shot but i ended up quite happy with the lighting and final result. This was shot in bright daylight outside but used 2 speed lights mounted in a Lastolite Ezybox II to over power the natural light. The soft box was positioned top right about 3ft above the eyes to add the “glint” and add the shadows and definition. Rest of the setup was Canon 5d mkiii with Canon 70-200 2.8 L II lens, for post work i accented the shadows and put a gradual fade on to punch the face through from the background. Quite a simple yet really effective set up and something i’ll keep coming back to i’m sure.
