How was kane being an ass during today's game :/

I guess our boys got under his skin and after Kapanen stole the puck from Kaner in the 3rd period he cross-checked Kapanen which was really unnecessary. I get it why he did that but I still think he was being an asshole. The refs didn’t notice it or at least he didn’t get a penalty for it but after that happened another one of our players distracted Kaner long enough so that he stayed on the ice and USA got a penalty for too many men on the ice
