📖 BOOK REVIEW 📖 Four stars 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 I’ve been wanting to read Midwinter ever since it was long-listed for the Women’s Prize for Fiction in 2017. I’m delighted I’ve finally got round to it as it’s a stunning piece of writing that really celebrates the raw beauty of the British countryside. Set in Suffolk, this is the story of Landyn and Vale Midwinter - father and son who are struggling to work the land they own and are also attempting to work through the loss of their wife/mother who passed away in Africa in horrific circumstances. This is not just a love story to the landscape (which jumps off the page with its vibrancy), but a story of the relationship between a father and son, specifically as they navigate their way through grief. I left the Midwinters feeling satisfied, happy and with a delightful urge to go out and appreciate my own little part of the UK. Highly recommended for those that enjoy detailed writing and the exploration of intricate family relationships in difficult times. #bookstagram #bookreview #bookworm #midwinter #fionamelrose #womensprizeforfiction #literaryfiction https://www.instagram.com/p/B_krXiUgoPu/?igshid=1mmeryo30bk7s
