Priestess: Bringing a priestess (aka someone who knows about the "demonic"/shardic diseases) could save your life.

Fashion designer: Adolin "the only fashionable cosmerenaught outside of hoid during tress specifically" Kholin's ancestor (the only part of this post that is /j)

Hey so I've listened to the first two chapters of The Fires of December (from the DX25 vid) and I have Thoughts™. I'll keep spoilers under the cut when i post about them, but also tagging them #fire decemb.

My initial thoughts on chapters 1-2 below the cut. Content warning for potential intersexism and potential queer/acebaiting (based on my interpretation of the chapters.)

So holy shit I'm convinced 200% that this book takes place on Ashyn. December's future sight thing reads like an unrestricted version of Renarin's corrupted illumination surge. I really want to go back and reread the Stormlight Handbook but I don't remember if it had anything on corrupted-spren nahel bond surges.

Also augh December technically has a condition that would be under the intersex banner (fallopian tube agenesis could technically be classified as a permutation of MRKH syndrome but i couldn't find a documented example of specifically only not developing fallopian tubes like December) but I am 99% sure Sanderson is going to do some "December's mother contracting the [illusion surge] disease while December was en utero is the reason December didn't develop fallopian tubes and has such a strong immune system" and augh. That's such a cop-out on what could be a really cool piece of representation.

Also bro couldn't let the queerplatonic relationship stay qp. It ofc developed into something alloromantic and allosexual. I know it wasn't real bc it was a part of December's vision (if my illumination theory is correct, combined with the impossibility of backward time travel established in Yumi) but COME ON MY GUY STICK THE STRAIGHT-PASSING-QUEER-PLATONIC LANDING.

Also istg if December is like "I can't fall in love because I'm mentally eighty" instead of "i still have no interest in romance" (even though she says multiple times that she's just not into the men of Rivershore cuz they're ignorant and will absolutely be in a third marriage by the end of the book) i will ccream.
