FIRE MOOSE @ THE SINKING SHIP (INDIANAPOLIS 1/30/2013)
O YES, Dog Dish and I had the opportunity to play our first time at The Sinking Ship up in Indianapolis this past Wednesday. In fact it was a Wasted Wednesday. Free Show, $1.00 PBR’s. A fine evening, a delicate evening, a fuzz evening. Indy didn’t know what to expect. As outsiders we strapped our boots on and started to kick out the jams as we do best. Thrashing hard, full-a energy, raw and fast. We enjoyed our time in Indianapolis, we made friend’s with a fellow garage rocker, the door man. What a rad dude. Bought both our cd’s and a print. WoAh. Gonna check out his band. He is reuniting with them down in New Orleans in the following months. Luv seeing older rockers still rocking. The crowd response was amazing. We will definitely be up north again in a couple of months. We were lucky enough to have NUVO there to write up a concert review. Here’s what Jordan Martich had to say:
“I’d never heard of Fire Moose before they played Wednesday night, but the Bloomington post-punk garage outfit came swinging out of nowhere. Fire Moose is the solo project of Wyatt Montgomery Worcel who drums and performs vocals simultaneously. They sliced through fast-paced, fuzzed-out garage rock with traces of punk in the vocals and the performance.”
Thanks Jordan.
If you like fuzzed-out noise punk then you definitely need to catch us opening up for The K-Holes (Hardly Art) on Feb. 9th at Russian Recording. See you there. – FIRE MOOSE
FIRE MOOSE // TRIP TIDES // FOXYGEN
Mmmmm. DOGGY DOG. DOG DISH. DOG DIG. The ELEMENTS were at work this night: OXYGEN, TIDES, FIRE. The characteristics of the elements matched the characteristics of the bands. Fire Moose – aggressive, fast yet elegant. Trip Tides – flowing, crashing and dynamic. Foxygen – airy, smooth and essential. Or something like that. The beautiful atmosphere that is Russian Recording sounded O, so fine, like playing inside of a well crafted recording room. The fine folks over there record the live set and within minutes post-show one has a physical CD in the hand. It was a pretty rad opportunity to play with Foxygen, especially for how early it is in their career. Their hype says they are going places and their live show was definitely one worth watching. Their (main?) vocalist utilized some very rad effects from a metal red contraption. And, as always it is a pleasure to be on the same bill as Trip Tides. There was a well rounded crowd, although not as rowdy as I had hoped. Should’ve been a group shot of finely crafted liquor by the crowd before the festivities began perhaps. All in all we are all in all. Tis great to be on a bill with a jagjaguwar band and such and such. Kora (fire moose guitarist) received sum bloody knuckles and a bruised up face, from a volunteer punch in the face sort of game from Mr. Meese. drunk kids. weird kids. cats. dogs. Thanks to all those who came out early enough to catch Fire Moose and Dog Dish bash some rocks. much love. kroodz. – FIRE MOOSE
