Bombshell Buick - 1952 Super Rivera A 165-MPH Work of Art The engine is a ’50 Buick Roadmaster Fireball 8 with a stock displacement of 320 ci. Rebuilt in 2009 by Doug Anderson at Automotive Machine Service in only six weeks, the engine produced 275 hp with a Quick Fuel 750-cfm carb on the homebuilt induction system seen here. For the ’12 World Finals at Bonneville, the engine was freshened by Anderson’s crew, and Jeff Brock designed a new high-rise log manifold using two 350-cfm Holly two-barrels split 17 inches apart. The engine now produces 340 hp with Arias custom pistons for 11.0:1 compression and a custom grind by Comp Cams. The stock heads are ported and polished with a valvetrain that was completely reworked for proper rocker geometry. The exhaust headers are custom built by Brock and covered in titanium heat wrap; they are set up as two pairs of four cylinders each.
