Korra didn't blend in on the streets of Republic City. She could feel herself sticking out, in her torn clothes, with her tangled hair that was clumped with dirt from spending too many nights on the ground as she ran from the Red Lotus. She was most worried about what people would think about her tattooed forehead -- the mark of a combustion bender. Would everyday people know what power she had?
Her stomach growled. How long had it been since she ate? Korra could hardly remember, hardly think straight. Stealing seemed like her only option. Plus, having grown up with the world's most notorious criminals, she had gotten pretty good at it.
However-- she didn't really care about herself anymore. She had no one. Who cares if she stole, if she got caught?
So instead of trying to pull off an elaborate scheme to steal food, Korra just took some from a street vender and began to run.
"Officer! Officer -- that girl is a thief!"
Great -- there was a cop around. Just what Korra needed.
