"Tian di wu yowng!" Aeryn slammed her fist against the dashboard of her tiny craft. The readout screen in front of her flickered and went out. She let out a frustrated sigh and slumped back in her seat. That was the third time this week she'd had to deal with power drains! Oh, she'd known this thing didn't do much when she bought it. But it was fast and cheap and she needed to run. But now she really couldn't put off the repairs any longer. Not that she had the credits for it, of course... It figured, really. Everything else in her life had fallen spectacularly to pieces. It was just a matter of time before her ship went, too.
Aeryn stared out at the Persephone skyline. Other crafts setting down or lifting off. The bustle of merchants and passersby rushing through the Eavesdown docks. No one really spared a glance her way. Exactly the way she liked it. She needed to find a job. Something quick and local. Get some credits for repairs and supplies and move on before someone recognized her. Or the Alliance caught wind of her whereabouts. She didn't want to run anymore. It felt cowardly. Wrong, somehow. Not to mention exhausting. But she hadn't been given much of a choice in the matter.
Finally extracting herself from the cockpit, Aeryn strapped her gun to her hip and stepped out into the warm sunlight. Moving quickly and surely, she headed down the docks.
Faster she found something, the faster she could leave this xi niao planet.
