The first symposium/conference that I submitted an abstract for was accepted. It was exciting! It was for Sacramento Art History Consortium's first symposium. I was completely nervous about writing the abstract for the submission, but I did it. And it was accepted. It was in Sacramento on April 9. Here's what I wrote about it when I found out:
I'm excited and nervous as hell at the same time. I need to practice in front of some people. Like pronto! And I have to buy an outfit that fits because apparently I'm shrinking. I just made some adjustments to my presentation to hopefully get it under 30 minutes (I have a 30 minute slot!), I want enough time for questions and discussions. And then from SAC, where momma will be meeting me to cheer me on (how cute?!), we fly home to Houston! I can't wait to see everyone, eat real Mexican food, see my babies and curl up with them (my cats, not real kids!), run around in the crunchy grass, climb my favorite tree, and see Palacios! I really want to go there. That's my haven, my safety place that I love going to. And I'm super excited to go view the collection of post 1990 Chilean work at the Blanton in Austin! That's bound to be fun! Sure, it's research, but it's awesome!
