do you guys think the line about uhh,,, "It’s a shame you’re not a woman any more. Cos she’d have understood." actually provides something valuable in terms of a point to be made or donna's characterisation or can it be cut/replaced without losing anything?
im thinking of rose's "youre so gay" to 9 and how that actually was about smth abt her character which like she grew out of
similarly this line could be saying smth abt donna's view on gender. i think it's a weird line especially for a mother of a trans girl but it's not necessarily unrealistic. theres lots of essentialism in how transness gets explained - born in the wrong body etc. but we dont get any more donna. theres no way for this to resolve like with rose
