Unfair treatment

Young Garmadon and Wu were racing through the halls of their father's home, laughing as they chased each other between pillars and ancient treasures.

"You're too slow!" Wu called.

"I'll catch you!" Garmadon shot back.

Wu darted around a corner and accidentally bumped into a display stand. An old ceremonial vase—their father's favorite—wobbled dangerously.

Both boys froze.

The vase tipped.

Crash.

Pieces scattered across the floor.

Wu's eyes widened in panic.

Before either of them could react, their father, the First Spinjitzu Master, entered the room.

"What happened here?" he demanded.

Wu swallowed hard. Fear tightened in his chest. "G-Garmadon broke it."

Garmadon stared at his brother in disbelief.

What? No! Wu knocked into the stand!"

The First Spinjitzu Master's expression darkened.

"Garmadon, this is not the first time your recklessness has caused trouble."

"I didn't do it!" Garmadon protested.

"Enough."

"But—"

"I said enough."

Garmadon's hands clenched into fists. Every time something went wrong, it felt as though everyone expected it to be his fault.

"Wu, tell him the truth!" he pleaded.

Wu looked away.

Silence.

The First Spinjitzu Master pointed toward the hallway.

"You will spend the rest of the day in your room."

Garmadon's heart pounded with anger and hurt.

"You didn't even listen to me!"

"I have made my decision."

"No, you already decided before I said anything!" Garmadon shouted.

The room fell silent.

The First Spinjitzu Master's eyes narrowed. "Watch your tone."

"Why should I?" Garmadon demanded. "You only listened to Wu! You never even asked what happened! How am I supposed to tell the truth if you won't hear it?"

The FSM walked over to Garmadon and slapped him across the face so hard that garmaond tasted blood in his mouth.

“You useless brat always destroying things”

The FSM stood back coldly. “Get to you room now” his voice thundered in the room.

Garmadon's eyes burned with frustration. He turned and stormed away without another word.

As he disappeared down the corridor, Wu stared at the shattered vase and felt a knot form in his chest.

For the first time, he realized that the broken vase wasn't the only thing damaged that day. The trust between the brothers had cracked as well.
