Sometimes, a heartbreak can turn into a blessing. For Melissa, it did just that.⠀
“There I was—about to turn 32 and somehow single after being with the same person for nearly 6 years. We were 3 months away from our wedding day when I found out he had been cheating on me. Suffice it to say, I didn’t think I would ever get over that heartbreak, and I definitely was not interested in dating again.⠀
Many months later, as I was scrolling through my Facebook feed, I see a couple of my friends have 'liked’ Zoosk. I thought, 'Eh, what do you have to lose?' And so, I signed up for 3 months. One day, Erik messaged me saying, 'You really are admitting to the world to be a Jets fan?! I’m sorry.' That got my attention because he clearly read my profile, and I liked the playful, albeit rude comment about my team. We exchanged numbers and spoke on the phone the next night. I couldn’t believe how smart and funny he was!
We met up the following Sunday to watch the Jets play. The date lasted 9 hours! He wanted me to stay longer, but I knew it was time for me to head home. It was pouring rain, and he refused to let me run to my car myself. When we got to my car, I told him, 'Thanks and bye,' trying to hurry inside. But he grabbed me by my shoulders and kissed me softly, as though the rain ceased to fall and we had all the time in the world.⠀
Erik is my soulmate, my person, and my best friend. I know without a shadow of a doubt that when I look into his eyes, I am looking into the eyes of a man who will love me unconditionally, forever. There’s not a day that goes by where I don’t thank God for the heartbreak that led me to finding him.”
What a truly remarkable love story and couple! We wish you and Erik a lifetime of love and happiness. 😀
