Yeah, ok, it is brilliant. My brother won 2 tickets to go to the UK Premiere in Leicester Square and went with his girlfriend (they are both big Marvel fans). They both loved it; the event and the film!
Tonight I finally caught up on Sky Premiere HD (not quite the same type of Premiere!) and I was, indeed, very impressed.
Superheroes have always, in comics, been portrayed in 1 of 2 ways and it's interesting how in recent years the balance in Hollywood has been addressed with darker portrayals in the movies (compared to the more fun, brighter, bolder versions). I still need to see Dark Knight (and Dark Knight Rises) which have done this with Batman; although I did see Batman Begins which I think started the current trend.
Many have said that this film was far better than Spider-man with Toby Maguire and Kirsten Dunst. I'm not so sure we should be comparing them though. There is definitely a place for both styles of portrayal, although I think Spider-man 3 that tried to bridge the two didn't work quite so well.
