Lake wanam rainbowfish - Glossolepis wanamensis

They are critically endangered in their natal lake. Lake wanum in New Guinea.

They display greenish tones with rainbow like scales!

The males are more colorful than the females, and the females tend to be shorter and have shorter "foreheads". The males also have longer anal fins.

I wanted a colorful fish for today!

Mandarin dragonet - Synchiropus splendidus

They are covered by a slightly poisonous mucus and they don't have scales!

They can perch on rocks and wait for unsuspecting victims, usually small invertebrates and crustaceans.

They are mostly carnivorous and a somewhat solitary fish!

LOOK AT THE COLORS!! 🔵🟠🟢

A friend of mine brought me to a specialized fish store and I saw this lil' guy hiding among the rocks!

When I first saw it, I thought someone painted a fish!

I had a great time!! ^^

Blue green damselfish - Chromis viridis

I saw this fish in the aquarium a while ago but never knew the name until now.

They feed on zooplankton and algae, and the males protect and take care of the eggs by ventilating them and eating those that don’t hatch.

I love that they look like fish, the fishiest fish, it’s just fish, fishy fish.

I love this fish, it's another one of my favorites, also here is a meme that @spadefish sent me. (Ty it is coincidentally one of my favorite fish!)

Red-bellied piranha - Pygocentrus nattereri

They are aggressive and they can do the fish equivalent of shouting.

They are omnivores, primarily scavengers. They don't hunt in groups but they group up as a defense mechanism against predators.

Yeah, I'm not getting in the water if I know that there are piranhas in there, doesn't sound like a good idea.

They scare me a little bit, but either way, I still appreciate them.

Do you guys like piranhas?
