// " I'm fine. " , she protests, like a child throwing a tantrum, but resists the urge to pull her arm away. to her, it's a minor scrape. to her, it's not a true cause for worry. blending out the pain is something she's grown accustomed to.

this, however, is definitely not a minor scrape. she just does not want to confront the pain. hesitantly letting him inspect the deep gash on her upper arm, she draws a sharp breath when he applies pressure to her skin.

" get it over with, quick. " her eyes roll, she expresses frustration. she had things to do. she checks the clock, impatiently rolling her left shoulder. someone just got a lucky swing on her. no big deal. she'll do better next time.

Sympathy in his eyes with understanding; sure had heard varying degrees of those words since forever. "You have a good heart, it comes with the territory." Hand extending out a fresh container of cold water to her. "Might want to try something that isn't all this, to help." Which probably seemed ridiculous to say but the words were a real suggestion.

"Does it?" Vi asks, wondering if that's really the case. She wouldn't want to not have a good heart, of course. But if it makes getting hurt easier, well that sucks.

She takes the water, gulping it down before letting out a sigh. "I can't, I just...I have to see this through." The whole thing is her fault, she feels, and so she has to make things right. If she had just gotten through to her sister, maybe things would be different. But she hadn't and they weren't. Vi guesses there's no point in wishing things were different, but that won't stop her from hoping that one day they will be. That somehow things will work out for the best.

Jayce taps his foot impatiently. His hammer lays uselessly besides the bench he is sitting on. his hands propped up on his knees, now that the adrenaline of the attack has worn off that position seems to be the least painful on his back. His mind is buzzing out of his control. The guilt of his past actions coming down in full force. None of this would have happened if he hadn't made that first mistake.

Most of all he wants to go find Mel and make sure she's safe. Is that selfish of him?

" You were there , weren't you ? " He snaps, but almost immediately relaxes. " I'm sorry , I think I'm in shock or something . " He mutters, the bite in his voice entirely dissipated. He shifts to pinch the bridge of his nose. He can practically feel the headache pounding behind his eyes. " You aren't gonna take me in for questioning or something , are you ? "

Claggor sighed, not having a choice in this matter. After all, Heimerdinger would want him to get fresh air instead of cooping himself up in the lab all day long. Okay, Steb convinced him.

His eyes beamed with genunie hope, "Wait really? Now ya got me interested!" He then stepped outside with Steb, "I'd love a strawberry shortcake cake!" He sounds rather happy.

Attempting to get his uniform, to at least cover the nicely visible bite mark it came from. His eyes looking over at Maddie; ears flapping a bit at the whistle. "I forgot our schedule..." Running late was not typical but it sure was the case this morning. Everything put together, uniform presentable aside the blossomed skin change. If anything the uniform made it stand out more. "From one to ten how noticeable is it?"

// noticing the bruise is surprising to her. maddie doesn't think she'd seen that on him before. there's a knowing smirk, especially when he asks if it's at all noticeable.

" probably a good nine. " , she answers, trying to not sound too mean about it.

it's unlike him to be late, too. but judging from that she doubts it's anything to worry about. she averts her eyes, crossing her hands behind her back. maddie would know better than to let anyone make marks where someone could see it. " you should be more careful with that. "

Vi cracked her eyes open, the sun feeling far too bright. Starting over had been hard. Being there for Caitlyn was the easy part, it came naturally to her. Being there for herself? That was something else entirely. Oh, but be proud of her, she would think, she didn't go to the bar like she had originally wanted. She didn't drink. Instead, she spent the night wandering between Piltover and Zaun and back again, exploring until her legs grew tired and her eyelids heavy. Worked herself into an exhaustion. Especially with her shoulder still not working quite right.

"Caitlyn's please. I don't want her worrying that I went out and did something stupid. She's got enough on her plate right now."

Vi hadn't wanted to alarm him, she really wasn't the type to ask, especially with everything that was going on. She could ignore her pain to a certain extent. Adrenaline would do that, fear would do that, grief would even do that. But with the dust settling, Jinx and Vander... gone, and Caitlyn being tended to by other emergency medics, Vi felt helpless, and the helplessness gave way to the pain in her arm. Shit.

"Can you... can you look at my arm? I landed on it pretty hard." Pretty hard was an understatement, the muscle hardened and the flesh had turned shades of red, purple, and blue at the point of impact.
