Crazy Feet by Pat Lubas Via Flickr: These belong to a common coot, a member of the Rallidae family. Coots flaunt remarkable “fissipalmate” feet, which means their toes are lobed. This adaptation is useful both to propel the bird while swimming and to help it move over soft, uneven surfaces. They have strong legs and can walk and run vigorously.
