About the Nanny: I am a 25 year old who recently just moved to beautiful Vancouver to follow my amazing fiancé and his career. I currently work as a full time nanny, in a nanny share position caring for 2- 1 year olds; a boy and a girl. I am a fur baby momma to a 5 year old girl Maltipoo who I have had since 10weeks old. I was born and grew up in a big city, moved to a small town found the “country” way of life: the real true version of myself, and now have found my way back to the city life of the go go go life style again but still staying true to the real raw version of myself. My passion is childcare, I put 200% into my job every day! In my opinion it has to be the most rewarding job there is out there. Sure there are some rough days or weeks but when I take a step back, take a deep breath and remember just how special the bond I have with each child is; it is the most amazing feeling ever.
************* My hobbies are: •Cooking- transforming comfort food and treats to healthy options •Crafting- recently just got a Cricut and enjoy making new projects. Using it to make lots of my wedding decor, favours and lots more •Working out- I’ve struggled over the years following through and sticking to a plan. I find I always have to have something I’m working towards to follow through. Either a trip, vacation , summer ect. But this time I have a fire lite inside me to just do it for me and to be healthy and happy. Other new hobbies I’m dabbling in right now: •Yoga, pushing a double stroller up lots of hills a day has really activated my not so young body anymore so stretching out seems to help wonders. Plus I find it to be very challenging, relaxing and great way to destress. •Hiking, having the country way of life embedded in me now I think this is something I will truly enjoy and what better city to explore that in than beautiful Vancouver. My strengths •Organizing- I am OCD organizer. If there’s a way to make a spreadsheet for it then I’m at it. I love planning events and parties. My wedding has been by far my favourite thing to plan! •Cooking- I love to cook and recently took baking a little more seriously My weaknesses •Being social and out going. Having anxiety my whole life hasn’t made this an easy task for me but I’m working on stepping outside of my comfort zone. •Text book skills- reading, writing, spelling grammar are absolutely my worst skills. I have great common sense skills show me something hands on and I’ll learn it put a book I front of me and tell me to learn it doesn’t go so well. How I got to where I am in my career today: Starting waaaay back when... My mom ran a dayhome from or home from when I was 1-13 years old until we moved. I showed interest at a very young age in caring for children. I always joke I was changing diapers when I was out of diapers. I took pride and really enjoyed being able to help my mom with the dayhome kids. Any chance I got to feed a baby a bottle or teach a little one sign language I was over the moon. I would much rather spend my time caring for kids then playing with kids my own age. When I was 8 I finally convinced my mom I was responsible enough to take the babysitting course then it’s history from there. I took every opportunity I could to babysit all my moms dayhome kids in their house while their parents went out to run errands or sport events ect. When I was 13 we moved to a small town called Castlegar, it’s a pretty small close knit town where every one knows everyone. I had a hard time finding families to babysit for but managed to find a few. I ended up working in customer service/ fast food most of my high school years and a little after. As soon as I made the move to Calgary to follow my then boyfriend, now fiancé, to finish up his college education I took the leap into childcare as a nanny and now am forever hooked. I think it is the most rewarding job there is. Every day I get to watch little humans become themselves and explore the world before them. I had a rough start in my nanny career taking on the most awful family but I didn’t get discouraged. A month after I quit with the first family I found my dream nanny family, a family of 5. 3 amazing little girls ages at the time I started we’re twins 3 years old and a 5 year old. It wasn’t all rainbows and butterflies to start but as they began to trust me, open their hearts to me and respect me our bond grew stronger and stronger. After 20 months of working for them it was time to move on. I truly miss them every day and think of them all the time. I hope the love and bond I grew with each one of them makes it hard to ever forget me and they feel secure knowing I am always there for them. But now here I am in a Nanny share position, which is a whole new ball game, with 2- 1 year old a boy and a girl. Getting to watch them grow and hit all the milestones ahead of them. I’ve only been their nanny for a month now but can’t wait for the many more months to come.
