PLEASE READ🚨 It took me a little under a year to get from the left to the right and hell yes I was proud of myself! I conquered all my fears of not being enough to face one of the biggest challenges in my life: losing weight after kids. After losing my first 15lbs I got curious about competing. Most of my #fitspos at the time looked happy training hard, excited to get super lean, and I’ll admit I wanted that too! It took a year of sacrifices, focus, dedication, and commitment in ways I never thought I had. I had to sacrifice a lot in order to achieve this goal and it was something I embraced and accepted. What I didn’t realize then was these sacrifices were things I valued in life. 〰️ During this period in my life I found myself passing up on date nights with my husband because I had to train at the gym. Friends wanted to hangout, but would always ask “When’s your next ‘cheat meal’ so we can go out to eat or have a glass of 🍷 ?” There were nights I passed up on when my husband would want to stay up and watch a movie with me after the kids were asleep. My trips/vacations were scheduled around my workouts and meal times. It was a little nutty. 〰️ However there’s nothing absolutely wrong with any of that, it’s a lifestyle choice that one person can make while others choose differently. My curiosity of seeing what else I was capable of brought me to the stage and to compete. My friend @achangpt posted the other day ✨“Extremes are easy, balance is hard...”✨ Words that couldn’t be more true. We are more than one thing in life and with that comes an understanding of how to balance all of the roles we play. Fitness should enhance your life, not be your life. Your family, friends, and experiences that give you joy ARE NOT obstacles. They serve a purpose, they add value to your overall health, and well-being. 〰️ ✨ Define your definition of health, happiness, and your well-being. What are the things and experiences in life that you value? What are your goals and are they ideal and sustainable?✨ Remember making a complete 180 is super easy! You just say NO, cut things out, and never look back. But can you be that extreme forever? #fitnessjourney (at San Jose, California)
☀️ Happy Monday, friends. I hope y’all had a fabulous weekend!! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✌🏼 Today I start a 5 Day Clean Eating Challenge with a new tribe of health minded #fitspos and I kicked it off with this yummy goodness. 🙌🏼 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🍋 It is... without a doubt... one of THE BEST mug muffins I have ever made. The only exception is I would have cut the amount of lemon zest I used in half (or used orange zest as called for but I don’t have any sooo 🤷♀️), it’s a bit overpowering, but otherwise this 90 second “convenience” food is incredibly moist (yeah I said it 😜), and flavorful.
