Reducing the estate tax, though, that's going to hurt the BIG donations made when rich people die.
Ughhhhh and it’s so complicated. I really should include the estate tax stuff in my summary but goddamn. Reading articles about the estate tax is exactly like watching a fandom you’re not in FREAK THE FUCK OUT -- you have an idea of what happened to set people off, but you don’t know any of the characters or what the event means for them or why that event in particular set people off.
Like, just, all the reporting on the estate tax is a bunch of accounting nerds flipping their shit with no context.

Yep -- I don’t actually know much about them other than that they’re a tuition-free Christian college that only takes low-resource students, but Republicans were working super hard to get them an exemption and then some change in the wording of the bill caused the exemption to fall through. So now it’s like, Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Stanford, Notre Dame, Amherst, MIT, Bryn Mawr, University of Chicago...and BEREA.
