It's not exactly recognised medical practice, but it works when James gets that faraway look in his eyes, so Stephen does it. James always responds easily, turning as Stephen guides him, his focus sharpening with a soft 'oh' as he looks at Stephen and hears his own name. Before he can flush or apologise, Stephen leans in to anchor him, holding James close and kissing him until the moment has faded and the ghosts of the past are, for now at least, forgotten, the warm weight of the present all either of them can feel.
