The Young Male Spirit at the Five Arches
Five Arches - Radstock/ Midsomer Norton History - This unusual viaduct is in Welton Hollow, west of Radstock which formerly carried the Somerset and Dorset Railway over the tracks of the Bristol and North Somerset Railway (later GWR) and a tramway. Now used for walkers and cyclists. There was a fatal motorbike accident there in 1957 on 5th October, where a young man tragically lost his life, but there was controversy over the inquest and the verdict remained open, as they were unsure who was riding the bike, him or his friend who survived. Hauntings - There are quite a few reports from locals of a man been seen in or around the arches, some say a miner, some say a younger man. Often around the beginning of October, could this be the residual spirit of the young man who suddenly lost his life in that spot 64 years ago..?
