“Demons, humans- you dudes are all the same,” Faith huffed, ducking a blow aimed right at her head (probably hoping to shut her up). “Always waving a big stick around. And I gotta say? I’m not impressed.”
The Strom demon snarled at the Slayer and took another swing with his weapon. Faith rolled under with ease, sweeping her leg out to knock the creature off balance. ‘Nother freelance gig- sure, they’d activated all the Slayers in the world, but there still seemed to be a demand for the “original” Slayers. She and B- but Buffy was busy havin’ a life or something. Not that Faith didn’t, but she had to take more requests in her pursuit of a somewhat-stable income. Track a few cults here, ransom a few artifacts there- and of course, there was always the good old fashioned beat-em-ups. She lived for those.
“It’s all about how you handle it, man,” she said coolly, practically clambering on top of the demon after his knees buckled, wrapping her arm around his neck until the crook of her elbow was tucked neatly beneath his chin. The rod in question seemed to have some leather wraps and some fancy detailing on it, but otherwise? It was just a pole. Metal, wood, she hadn’t determined (since she hadn’t been hit yet), but it didn’t look particularly dangerous. “If you hand it over, I’ll give you some pointers on really impressing the ladies.”
Restrained as he was, the Strom demon wasn’t exactly able to swing the rod at her anymore. Bad angles, and he was making some gnarly choking sounds. Faith held firm, pausing only for a moment as the demon adjusted its grip on the stick. “Changing it up, I see,” she remarked unimpressed, staring now at the butt-end of the pole. It seemed capped with metal, but he didn’t have enough range of motion to even ram it at her face. She had him pinned.
That was, until the metal cap glowed hot with light, aimed right at her face.
“Hey, woah, okay- not what I had in mind,” she said, trying to release her hold on the demon and knock the weapon away. But it was too late. A searing beam hiccupped from the tip of the rod, hitting the Slayer like an uppercut to the chin and knocking her flat on her back. Energy crackled through her chest and Faith lay stunned for a moment, hearing the sounds of the Strom demon scrambling to his feet, sounding somewhat surprised that his gambit (whatever that was) had actually worked.
