He wasn’t sure why he was doing this. Everything was finally alright. They were okay, Sans, Chara, Asgore, all of them. But this was also the seventh time they’ve been all right. Papyrus didn’t even feel like he could enjoy it for long. He’s had a lot of time to think about it. Then thinking about it led to it festering in his skull until he could hardly forget about it. Eventually, he just sort of...caved.
So when he was sure Sans was out and about with Chara and when no one would come looking for him, he left. The path to Mt. Ebott was so familiar he hardly needed to watch where he was going. All the way to Snowdin, towards the back of the house, down to the machine. The one he told himself he wouldn’t look at, let alone touch. He’d given up. If he was honest he’s still given up. But he just....wanted to try at least. To make things better.
Or was that just the teachings of a lost friend trying to reach him?
It wasn’t one of his better decisions he was sure. He didn’t even know what he was going to do once the machine was fully operational. Papyrus never got the chance. He didn’t so much as touch the metal door before it short circuited on him and he felt himself being physically pushed somewhere else.
“Aw...” He groaned, holding the back of his skull as he stared up at the sky, flat on his back. Looking around he felt even more confused. Was he...back home? It looked like he was in someone’s backyard.
