The issues in Port Valentine that I was talking about in my previous post.Â
Those red rectangles (1st and 2nd pic) sitting right in the middle of the streets -and looking like badly placed lots- are actually footprints. One issue they can cause in a world is not letting you click on the ground in that area (being on or off-lot). Sims can still access those streets by foot, bike or car, but you canât direct them to. I suppose that later on they can cause some really weird routing issues, I just didnât spend too much time in the game for them to start doing so.
Whatâs causing them to appear is CC with broken footprints. In this case it was a decorative object converted by someone from an EP to be base game compatible. After removing (and replacing) said items, the rectangles disappeared (3rd & 4th pic) and those areas are âclickableâ again. Also made a quick clean up of the world, for good measure.
Not only that, but also my own stuff has been creating some similar annoyances (as seen in the 5th pic where I click on the sidewalk but I have no option to âgo hereâ). It was a problem with the footprint of the curved and s-shaped barrage walls that I made specially for this world. While these two items didnât create those awful red rectangles in the world, they still didnât function like I wanted them to. Last pic shows the initial version with the rectangular footprint (the one causing issues). Then the correct footprint I managed to make after fighting Milkshape for a couple of hours, but ended up getting my coordinates from Blender. I can now click on the ground and get the right options in those areas (6th pic).
So this is something to watch out for when youâre using a large amount of CC in your worlds. Rebuilding routing data doesnât help either because it will count the existing footprints (as broken and messed up as they are).
