Step 1: Fixing my Teeth
My teeth suck. They always have sucked. I started getting cavities young, like at 3 years old. No amount of brushing, flossing, fluoride rinses and treatments slowed the cavity development down. I have had so many fillings. But then money became scarce and dental coverage became periodic so cavities could not be filled as regularly. I had many filled that were done wrong and had to be replaced. This used a lot of coverage when I was fortunate enough to have it.
Now I have a moderate amount of cavities to fill but two of my molars are so far gone that eating is painful. They need root canals. I can’t wait to get root canals! It’s been so long since I have been able to eat without thinking about where to place the food in my mouth so my molars don’t hurt. I really like my dentist and trust her. It’s been a long time since I have felt like I could trust a dentist. I have a plan of action now. I already had 3 cavities filled that were visible when I smiled and had a cleaning. My teeth are now whiter and without visible dark spots. Next are the 2 root canals then the rest of the fillings. I have an ultrasonic toothbrush which reaches spots in my little mouth the regular toothbrush couldn’t. I am going to start using a higher fluoride toothpaste and a less smooth floss with an updated flossing technique. For the first time I feel hopeful about my teeth. I think I might slow down the cavities. Yay! It’s a long road but I’m happy I finally have the resources to start.
