The average active person with a #healthy #metabolism burns 70% of their daily #calories not through #physical activity but just basic metabolic functions that keep you alive. Cell building, body heat regulation, immune function, digestion, etc. The chart here shows what a person who burns 2500 calories per day would look like. Btw, 2500 calories per day may seem like a lot but long before the obesity epidemic, 2500 calories per day was the recommended average for adults in the US. Here’s the thing though, extreme or long duration #dieting lowers that big number and often permanently. That huge engine that’s just devouring calories every day whether you sit on the couch or go to the gym dwindles. Which is why you hit plateaus and ultimately gain the weight back. Don’t keep damaging your metabolism by continually eating less and moving more. Instead, find ways to work with your body to rebuild that metabolic engine. If that is going, a reasonable diet and a moderate amount of exercise will keep you trim. If it’s not, you’re going to struggle for life. #nutritioncoach #nutritionmyths #everystrongbody #fixyourmetabolism #fitnesscoach #fitnessjourney #eatmoremoveless (at New York, New York)
