Hard To Say | Mark & Shun
for @mpmarklee ‘s birthday; we bringing in the feels. Also the video, lets say that Shun’s performance day from back then that he’s remaking here ^^
Shun knows what tomorrow is. How could he forget? He might not have spent many times with Mark on his birthday but it was hard to forget that day. The one day that’s passed every year since then and it just keeps the younger coming back to having these thoughts about his ex. Hoping that he was okay, or that he was happy. All while Shun might have been trying to forget Mark or hate him, at the same time you really don’t know what you got until it’s gone.
Making a present for Mark or even telling him happy birthday should be hard to say..but Shun wanted to make this a good opportunity to use, or to reveal something to his old classmate. He’s not the same.
So here he was the night before Mark’s birthday working on his present with the help of his aid setting up a camera for him. The young Greek demigod was standing in the middle of a dance studio, the emptiness of the room filling his ears while waiting for the old music to start. As the whimsical sound fills the room Shun’s body moves on it’s own dancing with the same red fan he had back then but in a large white tee and some baggy shorts.. It took him weeks to learn the choreography like the back of his hand just so he could perform his ending perfectly. He had to. Shun still remembers the look on people’s faces when they learned the ending sequence to his performance was wearing a blindfold. It’s not something that everyone could do. Especially for someone like Shun who had not been dancing all of his life as other students had. Doing this dance now, Shun still remembered every detail and every queue he gave himself to smile as he preforms. He just let his body move him as if he was blindfold for the whole routine instead of just the end. That didn’t mean he wasn’t going to still pull out the red ribbon, camera fully showing how he takes the time to tie it even when he didn’t have any extra dancers to hide behind like he did then. Without missing a beat, Shun jumps into his next move, spinning once and puts his all into the ending, every ounce of confidence he remembers practicing constantly because he didn’t want his nerves to take away from proving that he could do this. His moves are still soft but sharp, sure of where they need to be and when as he keeps up with the time and moves across the floor until the music starts to slow down into its ending. Shun’s heavy breathing is captured, completely wrapped up in his character down to the last couple of moves; closing the fan that hides him and slowly pulls the red blindfold off of him staring straight ahead.
The first take is what he goes with, going home with his aid not long after they had gotten started. Once the younger is back in the comfort of his home, bathed and ready for bed he thinks back to that day years ago. After knowing Mark as being such a hardass on how things should be done and giving Shun a hard time, that routine was the first time the younger got to see Mark be sincere and impressed. Just when Shun thought that Mark was going to be out for him the whole year, he got to hear what he wanted, what he needed to know if this was going to be his dream.. Shun wanted to show Mark still that he was okay now, but he also wanted to try and gift some forgiveness; less guilt. To show that maybe he can’t reach his dream anymore but he never took away his ability to dance because the Greek young man still loves to.
Shun suddenly hears his cellphone go off and he quickly reaches for it to answer listening to the message. “Are you sure this is what you want to send..? Just a typed card that says happy birthday and the USB for the video..? It’s an odd gift..” The younger smiles at his aid’s text using speech-to-text to write back. “Yes. He will know what it means..it’s something that I’ve kept form him for years now anyway.”
