Fjokra is an Irish band fronted by Dublin-born multi-instrumentalist Fi and vocalist Annie Bea. Active since 2015, they’ve released a few tracks to youtube and souncloud and toured the UK, Ireland, and even made a splash with some famous fans including Quentin Tarantino and Leonardo DiCaprio. Not bad at all!
Latest single Bang On The Door, released earlier this month, is a high energy lovechild of Die Antwoord and the Ting Tings circa '08-09 that blasts in with a bold statement over didgeridoo, 505 drum and mechanized synth samples. Yes, really. The band’s eclectic influences also include Bjork, Beck, Dr Dre and Slipknot, and they’re well known for their high-energy live shows.
Fjokra are setting up to promote their national and international profile this year, moving to look beyond Irish fame to further afield. They’ll be playing the UK’s Landed and Victorious festivals in August. Check out their official website or Facebook in the meantime.
