i loved sign of the times and sweet creature. two ghosts is soft and nice as well but it makes me really sad lol. the rest of the album never really resonated with me. i knew Harry was capable of *more*. I was so happy with FL when it came out, it’s a huge step up musically, artistically, and personally for Harry. It feels much more authentically him and the array of music genres on the album suits him WAY better than the ones on HS1. I’m glad someone else feels the same way lol
anon you just read my mind. like this is crazy dskfjhsdf it’s exactly what I think :o I have nothing to add
I have a theory that the reason everyone loves falling so much is because it could be a one direction song, but y’all ain’t ready to have this conversation
about the cherry voicemail: I can tell no french artist would want that voice on a song. it’s so bad she just have a very annoying voice. we have this expression in French and it’s “tête à claques”, it means “a face made to be slapped” it’s used to say that someone is so annoying that every time you see them you wanna slap them and camille and her voice are exactly that.
the end of fine line made me think of the bridge in “walking in the wind” both are harry telling us we’ll al be alright and it made me feel so hopeful
golden is that song that keeps growing on you until you can’t get it out of your head
My thoughts on Fine Line
Golden: I thought the song was written about the sun. to me it sounds like a love song. the melody makes me think of a song, I thought of “the chain” but it might be just me. I think sonically it’s not very interesting to me and it makes me think of a song that could be played for a french car ad on tv.
Watermelon Sugar: one of my fave, it is a bop! I love harry’s voice on it because it’s not overproduced. it has a good groove, it’s cute, it makes me wanna dance and I really like the acoustic guitar.
Adore you: I prefer harry’s voice without any effect so this one is a miss when it comes to his voice. it’s one of the few who has more “clever” lyrics. I love the bridge and the chorus, it’s very good lyrically and sonically.
Lights up: this song will always be the song that will bring me the nostalgia of this era when it will be over. I feel like it’s different the all of the other songs. Once again I don’t like the effect on harry’s voice but it gets better when he goes “all the lights couldn’t put out the dark...”. love the lalalalalalal and then the piano being added, love the effect. I love the bridge and the scream when the choir sings “SHINE”.
Cherry: the coucou will haunt me for a while. lyrically it’s quite basic. it makes me think of twilight in a good way. the accent line is about louis I won’t be taking any questions. I feel like the song is more in line with hs1′s genre. it also reminded me of summer 2011. I already talked about the voicemail, I don’t think it adds anything to the song except an annoyance for 90 % of fans.
Falling: this one is my fave. sometimes the simple things are the most beautiful and it’s how Ifeel about harry’s voice being only joined by a piano. the vocals on this song are the best I can’t wait to hear it live. it’s the kind of song I prefer when it comes to harry, I also feel like this song is the closest to the song we got from harry during 1d. strings!!!! the chorus always gets to me. the line about writing too many songs about “you” always makes me smile.
To be so lonely: I find this one really fun sonically. the chorus’ rythme is very good. the whole song makes me think of a very sunny place. do I hear a cello?
She: the intro made me think of hs1. I imagined harry singing this in a bar while playing the piano with a glass of whisky on top of it. I’m not fond of the chorus. all the changes in pronouns got me confused tbh but if they were really all on drugs while creating it... the guitar “solo” is the worst part, it’s so long and boring???? you just wonder when it will finally end.
Sunflower vol.6: the bridge is better than the verses and the chorus makes me think of a children song (I smile through it). loads of domesticity and another mention of a gallery. The end is very harry, I can see his personality shine through.
Canyon moon: first thing I wrote was “Yeeehaaaaw”. love his natural voice like I already said. it makes me think of Johnny Hallyday’s song “quelque chose de Tennessee” I don’t really know why :p the song is blatantly about louis. I love the clapping and the whistling. all the part when he repeats “I’m going home” is so cute and feel good. this end makes me think of home by edward shape and the magnetic orchestra.
treat people with kindness: the intro makes me think of a tv program for children. to me it feels like a song where the protagonist wants to to find a place for him and other(s) where they’ll be accepted. it makes me think of the song “pure imagination”. it feels very hopeful, I love the violins it sometimes makes me think of a disney channel song (sonically).
fine line: the start makes me think of the jungle. I still don’t know if I like that they kept the guitar defaults. another song that makes me think of twilight. “you got my devotion but man I hate you sometimes” makes me think about the way we feel about harry. love the simplicity of the piano in the chorus, simple but adds depth. I feel like some of the things done with guitars could be better if done with another instruments. love the guitar taking more space just before the ending. the end just obliterated me, even though it pains me to say this the trumpets are a good add on. they also make me think of an hymn. it is very soothing to hear harry saying “we’ll be alright”
to be so lonely is one of the best song on fine line and I won’t let you sleep on it
