The “Ghost of Kurosawa” LED Lamp from Quiccs × FlabSlab!
NEW POST: Akira Kurosawa's film The Hidden Fortress (or, more properly, The Three Villains of the Hidden Fortress) is considered one of the directors most influential films, having been acknowledged by even George Lucas as an essential inspiration for the original Star Wars film. The Hidden Fortress was, likewise, the basis for Philippines-based artist Quiccs’s recent “Ghost of Kurosawa” bust from FLABSLAB. Pictured above, the original Quicc’s designed character receives a similar treatment to the recently revealed “DarthTerra,” meaning it has been transformed into a USB powered lamp on a wood base! The prototype pictured above is a production sample and thus not assured it will be released, but we can certainly hope that FLABSLAB don't hold out on giving us this brilliant looking source of light! http://dlvr.it/KtLPQw
The Dark Side Will Light Your Way! Flabslab’s “DarthTerra” Light!
NEW POST: The Terracotta Army clay funerary art was buried with the first Emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang, in order to protect the emperor in his afterlife. Displayed in an impressive array within the tomb, the Terracotta Army might have been an influence in the way Stormtroopers organized themselves within the Death Star in Star Wars. Though FLABSLAB firms the connection through their most recent functional art piece: “DarthTerra.” Depicting Darth Vader attired like a Terracotta Army warrior, this 9¾-inch tall thick acrylic LED light gives off a warm yellow light and is USB powered, situated upon a 3⅓-inch diameter wood base. Elegantly packaged in a carton box designed by Zhou Jiajun (EATCIDPEECID), this magnificent piece appears to be the first in a proposed line as we've seen some Millennium Falcon based light designs floating around as well… Available now in the FLABSLAB online shop, the “DarthTerra” light costs only $45 apiece. http://dlvr.it/KsLSzx

@twelvedot × @PobberToys - “Roadkill” pre-order announced!!!
NEW POST: After we fully revealed the “Roadkill” release designed by Designer Toy Award: Break-through Artist winner @twelvedot , we've been dying for this @PobberToys produced piece to be available. Well, the wait is over. Standing 9" tall by 7" wide by 11" long, this resin art multiple will be available to pre-order on February 25th, 2016 at 6am PST in Pobber’s online shop for $200 a pop! Here’s a little background info on Pobber created Roadkill. "We first came across @twelvedot ’s work at ATC 2014 in Seoul. We were mesmerised by the clean lines and simplicity of his work and loved how he was using toys to spread a message of conservation for the tiny and often forgotten frogs. Fast forward to a couple of toy-cons later, we began planning for a piece together. Thus was born Roadkill - a menacing looking frog modelled with the look and feel of a car threatening lives on the road. Each year thousands of animals are killed on the roads. Even more staggering is the fact that up to 95% of all roadkill are the little ones, the amphibians which we seldom pay attention to. We knew we had to make a statement so here we go, presenting “Roadkill”, our attempt to bring awareness to ecological issues. Be safe on the roads, no life is too small." So rad to hear about the figure being released, but that's not the end of the news... On April 8th, FLABSLAB will host "Roadkill: Safe Passage", the first custom show based on this new figure! 2016 is shaping up to be a rad year for both Pobber and @twelvedot ... and we can't wait to see what the future holds! http://dlvr.it/Kbx5rw

NEW POST: Flabslab wants you to know that “Nigo Had It”… Now in Mono!: That's right, A Bathing Ape founder and former owner Nigo had it. What is it, exactly? Well, Nigo has had a lot of things — including a completed carded collection of Star Wars figures — but this specific 'it' would be the inspiration to take two disparate items and place them together, namely a sleeping Astroboy figure that he lay upon a Jean Prouve Marcoule bench. Spotted during Nigo's Only Lives Twice auction at Sotheby's, under catalog Lot 22, FLABSLAB used this idea as the basis for their now sold out smaller piece. Titled “Nigo Had It,” this work returns in a 2nd edition, which is a mono colorway! Cast in resin, this 6½-inch tall, 20-inch wide, and 6½-inch deep piece comes in a massive wooden box for protection. Limited to an edition of 43 pieces (plus 4 artist proofs), it will be available on January 30th, 2016 at 7am Pacific time in FLABSLAB’s online shop for $1300 apiece. http://dlvr.it/KLP967
Quiccs’s “The Ghost of Kurosawa” collectible figure release!
NEW POST: The previously announced 1/18th scale action figure version of Quiccs’s “The Ghost of Kurosawa” design is coming… These 3¾-inch tall resin designer toys, inspired by Akira Kurosawa's career, specifically the film The Hidden Fortress, are based on the Philippines-based artist’s resin bust that was released with FLABSLAB. While sized like an action figure, these have no points of articulation though they do have two holstered swords connected to the backside of the figure through magnets. Each handpainted, the first wave of the OG open edition will be released on hiddenfortressmanila.com, while — simultaneously — an alternate cardback version limited to 20 copies is released by FLABSLAB's online shop. Available for preorder on January 18th, 2016 at 7am Pacific time, these will be shipped by the end of February. http://dlvr.it/DGM97c
