The Flagstaff Arts Council's 10×10 Exhibition & Sale opens this week! Public Opening Reception is Saturday, January 14, 6-8pm. About 100 other artists and I are participating in this benefit show supporting the Coconino Center for the Arts. The FAC says artists take "their art in new directions previously unexplored" for this show- certainly the case for me! Using oil pastel on Ampersand's multi-media claybord was challenge on the slick surface! I was able to achieve some interesting effects like the sgraffito-esque technique in the video, used to depict the speckled surface of the Cucurbita foetidissima fruit. Can’t wait to see what others did!
