Fic idea where Roberts more MechaMan than he is Robert AKA he refuses to take off the mask
I can't stop thinking about it so here.
Robert doesn't deal with losing the suit well.
He's been Mecha man ever since he's lost his father, he doesn't know how to be Robert anymore.
During the scene at Crypto after getting kicked out he ends up bumping into Flambae again outside. Except this time their fighting leads to fucking. Because frankly Robert needs some sort of outlet after the things he's been dealing with.
Everything comes off except the mask, Flambae doesn't care much since it's probably just a secret identity thing. But he probably still makes a snide comment about it not mattering since he's not MechaMan anymore, just to take a dig at him.
When they finish Flambae burns his handprint into Roberts side which obviously hurts, but he'll be damned if MechaMan forgets him now. (Robert might punch him for this)
The whole thing is revenge and dominance on Flambaes part, he isn't 100% what it is on Roberts part, likely assuming it's either a kink or he just needed to get laid.
But for Robert it's a distraction and a way to still feel like MechaMan. He probably regrets sleeping with Flambae though.
As amazing as it feels to have gotten back at the man who threw him in prison, seeing Roberts fucked up body and how he limps afterwards does make Flambae feel a little bad.
He offers to let Robert stay the night, or at least let him call an Robert an Uber. But Robert doesn't accept and just leaves, hoping to never see him again.
Then comes working for SDN where he sadly does see Flambae again, though he pretends he hadn't hooked up with him
He also sees Chase! Who literally has to yank the mask off his face just to see his freckle face boy again. Because yes, he's working as a dispatcher as MechaMan, not as Robert.
It's a rough start, Flambae is still going through a power trip and being a dick (I'ma say he hasn't told anyone yet about them hooking up, was probably planning to but MechaMan becoming his dispatcher made him hold off)
He wants MechaMan to quit. He even suggests letting it slip to Blond Blazer that they've hooked up but that probably wouldn't do anything since HR doesn't actually exist and it happened before Robert worked there.
He'll try to hold it over Roberts head, offering his silence for favors, possibly suggesting hooking up again, which comes off in a blackmaily way to Robert but was meant to be a flirty offer from Flambae.
Robert shuts it all down, saying he's not gonna sleep with a coworker for one, and for two sleeping with Flambae was a dumb one time thing and he tells it to his face. So Flambae can tell whoever he likes
(Flambae might tell the team, think it'll stay within the team though. And Robert probably gets snarky about it and makes up lies about what Flambaes like in bed as payback. Flambae having to shut up about it if he doesn't want to continue being mocked)
Visi shoots her shot too but gets the same answer about not sleeping with coworkers.
Skipping to the house party.
When Visi leaves Robert follows to make sure she doesn't do something stupid. So he pretty much pushes past Flambae at the door who showed up late.
Everyone decides to leaves since the party is over. Flambae is the one to find Chase sitting on the sidewalk.
They actually have a somewhat okay relationship, they're not close but Chase doesn't hate him as much as the rest because Flambae can actually be a decent hero at times.
F: what's up with you?
C: family stuff
Flambae sits next to him.
F: Yeah, I get that.
They talk about Flambaes niece and Chase talks about how Roberts his sorta nephew. He probably lets slip Roberts name but Flambae will probably keep that to himself, unless he wants to pick on Robert in private with it
Chase talks about how he's worried since Roberts really lost himself to being MechaMan, that he has to pry the mask off him just to see his face, that Robert didn't even want to be MechaMan when he was a kid but didn't get the chance to dream about being anything else.
C: He didn't want to be MechaMan when he was younger, didn't even like the mech that much, kept his dad away.
F: what did he want to be then?
C: ya know.. I don't think he really got the chance to want to be anything, Robbie decided what he was going to be for him.
F: Yeesh. Not a big fan of this Robbie guy.
C: he was a good man. Just not a very good father. Or friend.
There is some stuff that Chase keeps his mouth shut about, knowing he already exposed way more than he should have to Flambae.
Flambae walks him back up to the apartment so Chase can watch Beef, and he thanks Flambae for listening to him and asks him not to talk about it to anyone, especially not Robert.
When they get up there they see the computer flashing.
Visi sending a distress call.
Visi being able to turn invisible made it a bit difficult to stop her from doing something stupid. He knew where she was going though. It ended up as a team effort but they got to the pulse.
That is until shroud showed up.
Robert got Visi her inhaler and didn't intend to go after Shroud, getting his injured coworker to safety was the priority now.
But Shroud just kept goading him.. and his anger won out.
When Shroud was done with him, he was a bloody mess. Visi had to call for help because she was sure Robert would die without medical attention.
Flambae was the one to fly there when they heard what happened through the computer at Roberts place.
Robert woke up in SDNs infirmary.
Thankfully he was fine, Visi got most of the blame anyways, but she also got the pulse which made up for it.
Chase was livid though. For obvious reasons.
Robert had gone to thank Flambae for the save, only to be lectured by Flambae of all people. Having the nerve to tell Robert to act better towards Chase too, as if he was buddy buddy with Roberts uncle!
They wouldn't be buddy buddy if Chase knew what happened at Crypto night, and now Roberts the one holding it over Flambaes head, threatening him to stay away from Chase and mind his own business when it comes to Roberts personal life.
Big step back from whatever little progress they've made together.
That's all I got.
If anyone wants to do this go for it. I really like the idea but I don't think I'm going to do it because I already have a similar fic in mind where Robert gets amnesia and forgets every memory he has of being Robert and only remembers being MechaMan.
Also fun fact, Chase is only 3 years older than Flambae. Also might be why they get along.

Love your fic! How do you think the team would react if Robert suddenly went into labor? Or worse, the team is all dispatched on a major emergency, and that is what triggers Robert to go into labor?
Oh my!!!! What an idea! Im definitely planing to write some more moments from their home life and this is something to think about. There will be at least 2 more parts with Robert still pregnant but the labour idea is very good one!
