Burial and the bug have come together as ‘Flame 1’ to release 2 new tracks. For them to work under the name flame 1 suggests that there will be more music coming from them which is always good. The song fog is quite mesmerising. The title is so fitting as the atmospheric sounds seem like they just surround you. The bass line just sits there nicely giving the tune a direction without ever reaching a conclusion.

Significance:

first love, never amounted to anything

Story:

The entirety of freshman year we sat next to each other. We were both the weird art kids. She was shy too, maybe even more than me, but eventually I got her to open up. It wasnt until the beginning of the summer before sophomore year that I realized I had feelings for her. I got her number and we spent the summer texting each other. We didnt have any classes or lunch together the next year. We stopped texting as frequently. Out of desperation I tried to escalate things. A couple things I did to express my feelings

Me: what are boobs like

*a minute of me freaking out that I’d gone too far*

Silvia: "They’re squishy and round and fun”

Me: Oh cool Lol XD

Me: hey wanna go to the sweethearts dance with me?? XD

I’m not kidding. Even today, its my most played song on itunes just from that one rejection.

Epilogue:

We hung out once outside of school. The summer between junior and senior year, we met by the river and drank some rum I stole from my mom, got lost by the train tracks and she threw my frisbee in the river.

A year later she was married and unfriended me on fb, re-added and unfriended again.
