94) "I'm willing to wait for it." for Millie x Jean?
[I can’t tell if other people will think this is a little bit saucy or not, but I’m still a little surprised that this is the drabble I wrote.]
“Millie, what have you bought me?” Jean demanded, in scandalized accents.
“I should have thought,” Millie replied, “that it was fairly obvious. Don’t you like them?”
“Liking them is not the issue,” Jean objected.
“So you do like them.”
“They’re beautifully made—“
Millie snorted.
“But dreadfully impractical, dear.”
“They’re not supposed to be practical. They’re supposed to make you feel…magnificent.”
“I’d feel a lot more magnificent wearing something useful.”
“Fine. I’ll return them.”
Jean reached out and touched one finger to the fabric. “Magnificent, you said?”
“Very. How about this: I’ll put them away for a few days, in case you change your mind. And if you don’t, back to the shop it goes.”
“I suppose I’d be willing to wait a day or two, if there’s no harm in it.”
“None at all.”
