FL - Explore Animation #2
WEEK 1
STOP MOTION or STOP FRAME ANIMATION
Overview - Aardman Animations - discussing Morph
Week 1 is in 4 batches of 19 sections from 1.1 to 1.19.
I am planning to do work each batch per session or sitting. Roughly it estimates to about 20 minutes per day for 4 days a week. This, I guess excludes the task given of course, which might take longer.
First video speaks about the kind of animation few directors like - Should check out animator called PES from America. Liked his work.
Second Video - Talks about defining Animation
Persistence of Vision
"Animation works by using an optical illusion. By presenting a sequence of still images in quick enough succession, the viewer interprets them as a continuous moving image. This is the same principle that enables live action film making and projection to work. Film theorists often refer to this illusion of movement as the persistence of vision.”
“In animation, moving characters are often shot “on twos”, which means one image is shown for every two frames of film, a total of 12 drawings per second. Although this is just on the limit of our ‘persistence of vision’ it is usually satisfactory for creating smooth and lifelike animation.”
Flip Book Task
Bouncing Ball Animation - Plan to complete this task by the end of the week. Simple Paper-based animation.

3/12 Principles that are relevant to this task -
Arc - The path or curve followed by a moving object in an animation
Ease in and Ease out - Emulation of the natural speeds and accelerations of objects
Squash and Stretch - Maintaining the volume of the object in proportion, creating a realistic sense of its weight and flexibility.
