Flap Dragon or Snap Dragon was a game played during the Christmas season. A bowl of brandy was filled with brandy-soaked fruits: raisins, currants, figs, plums, and nuts. The brandy was set on fire. Children would play in a dark room where the blue flames were most lovely, snatching the fiery fruit from the brandy and popping it in their mouths, extinguishing the flame. Played mainly in the 16th-19th century United Kingdom and its colonies.
