maybe if he weren’t stoned out of his mind, he’d find it in himself to be hurt. as a teenager--- a teenager who’s been kept in that godforsaken academy for his entire life--- feelings are usually at the forefront of one’s mind. typically they’re sensitive, confused, needy. they’re growing and changing and something like this ( something like the guy you’ve been flirting with telling you that he can’t be gay right now ) would likely piss anyone else off. klaus, on the other hand, stares at dave with something of a disconnect; he finds himself more concerned about dave than about himself.
