Indigestion
I stopped drinking sour beer at some point. I usually have a beer beer in the evening -- after dinner, after Bean’s bath -- and drinking anything particularly sour just gives me heartburn. Without a layer of french fries or pasta to soak it up, the acid goes after my guts. So as much as I might enjoy the tangy flavor, lately I really can’t stomach all the sour ales -- pun, regrettably, intended.
Good thing Flat Tail’s Dam Wild is so disappointing. Despite sporting wild yeast harvest from plums and a healthy dose of marionberries and pink peppercorns, the beer is not sour. It’s barely wild. On the nose, Dam Wild promises ripe fruit and bright spice, but I can barely taste it. The beer tastes waxy, like drinking a Yankee Candle. The flavors of fruit juice and spice are present, but the body is so off it’s like drinking through a veil, a plastic covered, opaque veil.
At least it didn’t hurt my tummy?
