Flat 101 // Starting the Process

Becoming an adult is hard and fun, and creating your first room as an adult can be so exciting. Here are my first steps when I began to look at decorating my first student flat. 

get a budget together + wiggle room find a room that you like, good energy + natural light, etc pick out colors + theme of the room (white or wood furniture, etc) decide on bed size + where it goes (as my bed is important to me- If your thing is a computer or desk, do that first) evaluate how much storage is needed in rest of room pick out furniture you NEED: bed, dresser, desk, lamp desk chair, armoire, etc.  pick out decoration you would LIKE: mirror, rug, curtains, shelves or decorative storage buy items you need first and see how that affects your budget decorate and buy items that you need after all the furniture you NEED is there - you may want less than you thought!

I’m going to be decorating my second ‘real, adult’ room in the upcoming months and this is my plan. I’ll write updates as it happens, and see what adjustments I should make.
