#flatmate stress

Aaah student living is The Worst. I lived with 9 flatmates for three years and most of them were Loud and Partiers and Messy (as in moldy dishes messy. Just normal messy i could've handled). Hope you get a few good ones!! (I just moved at the beginning of this year, now have 1 flatmate who isn't here most of the time and did celtic too, and is quiet and clean too!! So good flatmates do exist.) So yeah just crossing my fingers really hard for you!!!

yeah my problem is the collegiate system -- i don’t have that many friends in college, but don’t have the option to live out of college? most of my friends are (a) in the asnac department or (b) graduating because i took time out so i’m a year behind my college friends now, which seriously limits my options. i basically know nobody in my year in my college and it’s stressing me out

i literally can NOT live with people who are messy in the kitchen, i have coeliac disease and even a small amount like some crumbs will make me unpleasantly ill, which is one of the reasons i’m so stressed

so my potential flatmates for last year just posted publicly about trying to get flat 2 in the block aka NOT my flat aka abandoning me without even thinking to mention it to me beforehand

and like

i didn’t even know them but at least they were going to be 3rd year lawyers and i’d have a chance to get to know them over the next six months whereas at this rate i’m going to get stuck with freshers which means

(a) living with 18-year-olds when i’m 21/22 which i just don’t have the patience for

(b) having no control over who i live with meaning that they might: (b.i) be big drinkers (b.ii) party a lot or invite a lot of people over to be noisy in the flat (b.iii) not understand how to not gluten me so therefore cause me to be constantly ill (b.iv) be into noisy sex (b.v) be rowers who will wake me up in the mornings and get mad when i’m nocturnal

(c) having no idea who i’ll be living with until i arrive in october which is just STRESSFUL. AS. FUCK. as if i didn’t have enough things to be anxious about

also i know it’s about rooms more than it’s about me -- they’re probably going for a different flat so they can have the two big rooms whereas in the current arrangement i have one of the big rooms so they’d have to go for a big and a smaller one, which they may not think is ideal -- but it still kind of feels like no one wants to live with me

the ballot starts like... tomorrow? so i have barely any time to find people anyway? ugh
