The End of the World
Part 1 of 4 (part 1 | part 2 | part 3 | part 4)
Chronicling The Traitor’s entrance to the Fletching Clan.
Cool starlight trickled through the bamboo shoots as the slender skydancer wove his way between them. His pelt matched him to the dark hues of the sky, so it had been in darkness, for the last few months, that he had traveled. Now he came to what seemed the end of the world. The dragon himself refused to concede that his quest might be over; if need be, he would launch himself from the furthest mountain of Dragonhome and fly until he found somewhere new.
But that was not to be. Perfection, he thought, as he sat to admire what he would make sure was his new home. In the bright night, the massive fae-built castle shone like a beacon on the cliff. Bridges of fir wood and thick rope--but more magic than anything else--connected floating contraptions. Some of these were also filigreed towers made of fae sap, but some were marble and opal, floating as lightly as clouds. Tsoriken curled his whippy tail around his feet and simply surveyed it for a moment, drinking in the sweet scent of the Cloudsong at night.
He had seen many beautiful clans before this one, some more decadent, some larger, but there was one thing in particular that struck him about this one; there was no night guard. The whole place was almost eerily silent and dark, yet it was obviously not abandoned.
Gonna work on a clan map soon. My clan is super old and made almost entirely of fae sap towers built on the Cloudsong to make a giant castle with dozens of secret tunnels and spires overlooking Sornieth. There is a section on the ground though, and two of my dragons (Pwyll and Arawn) are keepers of the bridge that leads from one section to the other.
